everlasting; undoubtedly one cannot attain salvation (lasting
bliss) through them.

11. 0 Nachiketa ! you are undoubtedly wise, for you
have abandoned with courage the worldly desires as well as
great fame, the great fruits of worldly sacrifices, utter fearless-
ness, great praise-worthy office etc. of this world, after seeing
considering them (as not real everlasting).

12. The wise and the steadfast man, by practising spritual
yoga
(concentration on God) and realising God who is ancient
(without beginning), not easy to understand and very subtle, and
who has entered deep in our intelects and hearts, casts away
from him all joy and sorrow.
