46. A brahmin devoid of character does not get the fruit
of recitation of Vedas, but a person of good conduct
gets full fruit of Dharama. A brahmin is entitled to
accept charity, if he has got both education and good
conduct. (Manu)
47. It is difficult for all to become intellectual, but every
one can become a man of good conduct (Swami
Dayanand).
48. A person who does not drink wine, and does not desire
for another woman even mentally, he goes to the
heaven (A poet).
49. There can be no tree, where there is a fire. There can
be no prosperity where gambling is played (A poet).
50. Austerity, fast, fame, knowledge, good family line,
purity of mind and age—A prostitute cuts them as an
axe cuts a tree. Reputation also falls to the ground,
along with all these attributes due to prostitution. The
dispute increases, and a situation can arise leading to
murder. (A poet).
51. A person who snatches the wife of another, or attempts
to steal the wealth of somebody else through physical
violence; or he who does not listen attentively to the
advice of elders and the teacher, and keeps them
aggrieved; he does not get happiness neither
in this world nor in the next one.
