Ayam agn¨ suv∂ryasye‹e hi saubhagasya. Råya
∂‹e svapatyasya gomata ∂‹e vætrahathånåm.
Agni, the ruler, rules strength and power, heroes
and warriors of the world, rules the greatness and
grandeur of good fortune, rules the wealth of nations,
rules the families blest with children of noble character,
rules the master of cows, land, and knowledge and
language, and rules and controls those who destroy the
darkness of ignorance and hoarders of wealth. (Rg. 3-
