BRIEF INTRUCTION OF ARYA SAMAJ

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji was born on February 12, 1824 in Tankara, Gujarat. He left home at the age of 19 to search for true knowledge. He received education from Guru Virjanand Dandi Ji at Mathura. After deeply understanding the contemporary problems of the country he started putting his fearless words on all of them. As a result, a change started coming.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji understood the root cause of contemporary problems of India was prevalence of superstition, social evils, illiteracy, untouchability, castism by birth and gender discrimination and he started working upon it one by one. As Swami Ji had understood that being a human being his life also could not last forever, so he founded Arya Samaj Organization in 1875 in Bombay for continuous expansion of his work. Soon Arya Samaj began to be establishing in different cities across the country. He made rules and regulations for this. He created a democratic structure amazingly. After the demise of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati  Ji in 1883 DAV College Lahore was established to commemorate his memories forever.

Arya Samaj is a 3-tier organization. The local arya samaj is at the base. Above this is the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of the province and at the top is Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. Under this Arya Samaj organizes all the academic, cultural, intellectual, physical development and activities of service to mankind.

  • There are approximately 10000 Arya Samaj Temples in the whole world.
  • Approximately 2500 Schools, Colleges and Universities are being operated by Arya Samaj including DAVs.
  • Operation of approximately 400 Gurukuls running on residential education system.
  • Many orphanages are in operation for bringing up more than 20000 orphans in different places.
  • Approximately 1500 hospitals and dispensaries are being run by Arya Samaj to serve the mankind
  • Organising thousands of inter-caste marriages every year with simplicity.
  • Operation of thousands of gymnasiums (Vyayam shalas) for physical development of youngsters by Arya Veer Dal.
  • Thousands of residential camps are being organised every year for moral education and physical development.

  1. To inculcate the feeling of patriotism and physical development among the youth and preservation and promotion of ancient Indian gymnastics arts by youth wing of Arya Samaj, i.e., Arya Veer Dal and Arya Veerangana Dal.
  2. Arrangement of free accommodation, food and coaching to the talented students for the preparation of civil services by Arya Pratibha Vikas Institute.
  3. Small loans and domestic employment to the women of under privilege section under the women self-employment scheme.
  4. To revive the Indian glory, culture, knowledge and science through the institution of ancient Gurukul system.
  5. Operation of separate gurukuls and hostels for girls.
  6. Contribution to health care through small, medium, and big hospital.
  7. Operation of education, rituals, and service work in tribal areas by 100 service units of All India Dayanad Sewashram Sangh.
  8. Free upbringing of 20,000 children in Arya Samaj’s worldwide orphanages.
  9. To build cast-less society organization of thousands of marriages without any pomp and show.
  10. Going with the determination to do continuous service work for the last 150 years in natural calamities and national disasters – corona-19 epidemic is the recent example of selfless service.
