1. Yama now explains to Nachiketa spritualism thns: "The
Shrya
(beatitude) path is different from
preya
(wordly affluence)
path. They both are different in fruits and take possession of
the man's mind. Out of these too one who chooses the
Shreya
path reaps good fruits, while one who chooses the
preya
path
(by which he satisfies his cherished wordly desires), degenerates
i.e.,
falls from the aim of life.

2. The path of
Shreya
(beatitude), and the path of

(attainment of sensual pleasures), are both available to a man.
The wise considers and, discriminatin g between the two, chooses
the former in all respects in preference to the latter, while the
