11. This statement makes it clear that this biographical sketch is not written
by Lala Jivan Das.
12. This Arya Samaj Science Institution was opened on Saturday evening,
April 12, 1884 (The Tribune, April 12, 1884). Pandit Guru Datta was
pioneer in the field of science education not only in Punjab but whole of
the country. Punjab Science Institution was organised in 1885. It was in
1887 that Mahender Lal Sircar established the Indian Association for the
Cultivation of Science. The first annual function of the Indian Science
Congress was held much later on January 15, 1914 (For more details
see Ram Prakash, Pandit Guru Datta Vidyarthi,pp.26-27).
13. Jivan Dass and Guru Datta reached Ajmer on October 28,1883 via Abu.
The latter was introduced to the great Rishi by the former (For more
details, see Ram Prakash, Pandit Guru Datta Vidyarthi, pp.29-30).
14. Rishi Dayananda visited Multan on March 12,1878 for 37 days but Guru
Datta was at Jhang during that period.
15. Guru Datta donated his one month's scholarship (Rs. 25) for this noble
cause.
